Considering a Boxster S(987)

Hi guys, I'm considering buying myself a Boxster S for my birthday coming down in November. I'd like to know what you gusy recommend I'm in the market for a 05-07. Just would like to know what to look for. I currently own a 928 S4. I've enjoyed it for last couple of years and I feel I want a convertible and practicality of a boxster with two trunks and such.

07 has the 3.4 motor, I have the 3.2 with exhaust, intake, ECU flash and more. Only thing I wish my car had is the PASM option, 19" wheels on rough pavement is...rough. Nothing better than driving with the top down.

Hey Sty3x:

I have a 2007 Boxster S. Absolutely love it. It has just about everything. In fact, about the only option it does not have that I have seen is auto climate control (but it's a convertible). To be honest, I have rarely used the NAV system. I haven't tracked or autoX'ed (yet), so I really haven't had any use for the sport/chrono option. PASM is nice, but haven't used it either.

Options I really do like include the sport steering wheel, full leather interior (including rear center console), roll bar painted in exterior color, heated seats, supple leather, Bose, Bi-Xenon's, self-dimming mirrors.

Great car...you'll love it.

I've also added a few mods; AWE Exhaust, Softronic, IPD Plenum and the EVO Intake

Hi Petrolheadsg:

Mine is a 6 speed manual...and yes, there is a noticeable difference in performance. I haven't had the chance to get the car over to a dyno shop, but the butt-dyno approves of the changes : )

I would rank the mods this way, in order of the seemingly most performance gains to least:

1) AWE Cat-back exhaust
2) Softronic re-flash
3) IPD Plenum
4) EVO

Regards...

I have a 2007 Boxster S and I love it!

It pretty basic with just Tip, climate, leather, upgraded sound & cd changer!

I use the car daily and gave my E46 320d to my wife!

I would personally wait until Febuary 2009 before trying to pickup a Boxster.

Why?

Well the new face lifted model is coming out in Feb with significant improvements in fuel economy and more torque and LSD. This will make the car considerably more capable. This should help along with the fact it will be winter to depress the prices of 987's even more. Allowing you to find a lower mileage higher spec car than you may have previously thought possible. PDK will also hurt all old Tiptronic car values going forward.

To have a quick read on the new Cayman/Boxster and S version of both plus some shots look here

As they say, buy the newest car you can afford. As with the new 911s, Porsche will be lowering their allocations for the US so for one you will not get a big discount (if any) on the refreshed 987s next Spring (I was told May) and for two, the prices on currrent 987s will firm up.

I might be selling my Guards Red/Black 2008 Boxster S, 6-speed, Sport Exhaust, etc., 1500 miles, perfect in & out - drop me a PM if you want some specifics or keep an eye out in the classifieds soon.

Thanks, for the replies guys. I've just come into some money and I got a raise I've been looking for so I'm looking for something more sporty and current than a 928 atm. Not a boxster ,but this caught my eye http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true

Yeah, I second that...gotta have a stick unless you have a disability that prevents it.

A Boxster S is just as good as a Cayman IMO but you can drop the top on nice days...best of both worlds! Check the classifieds for a nice Red '08 Boxster S.

I prefer an tip, one I've never driven stick before and this car would be my DD. I really wouldn't want to mess up the tranny on a Porsche would I?
