Boxster Widebody Project. Photos.
Think it's time for another....
My employee had the itch to build a customer Boxster. Thought it'd be fun to add onto this older thread, and show everyone what he's decided to build. He's using a different style front bumper on his car. This car started out as a very clean 1990 Boxster w/ 66K miles, which drove and shifted flawlessly. The top was torn, so it'll be getting a brand new one. The interior will be going Ultrasuede, charcoal & what they call Regal blue with contrasting stitching. Just ordered the Ultrasuede today. Most likely the interior will be going a diamond pattern on the seats and door panels. He hasn't picked the exterior blue paint color yet... but is leaning towards a House of Kolors blue pearl. But may go for a nice looking blue they used on a Bugatti (I'm trying to talk him into that).
Below is a "before" photo of the car... and a current photo today.

Here's the exterior blue that was used on the Bugatti (I like). It'd be very
cool if the mirrored look could be done to the door area. I haven't seen any
of the mirror vinyl wrap that looks good in person. I'm sure it's a mirroring
process. ;o(

This interior is being used for a bit of inspiration.
The interior will probably look a bit similar. I little bit darker blue though.

Thanks. I'll try to take more photos... on this new project. Including the interior, which should be a fun interior. He's been tossing around doing the car pearl white... but changed to the blue. Hopefully it'll get painted by the end of the month.
that would be pretty sweet! It would tie in the spoiler a bit better, right now I feel it's just too tall compared to the rest of the car. The speedster humps would give a bit more height to the rest of the car.
Today for a quick project we're doing a bit of carbon fiber overlay on the tail uprights. And also the very edge, (add-on blade) to the tail. Below you can see they are gel-coated black. The gelcoat works great because you can't see through the weave of the CF. And also it tacks up really nice, which allow you to gently lay the CF over the part and have it stick nicely in place. Once all the edges are laid down nicely, then it's time for the resin.
Here's a few shots of the CF with resin applied (epoxy resin).
Once this dries, another thin coat will be added to build up the
thickness of the resin a bit. The edges remain untrimmed till
the resin dries.

Here, the resin has dried. You have a bout 2 min. to catch the
resin at the correct time before it dries too hard. Then it will be
impossible to cut with razor blade). Once the edges are cut, then
it's time to sand this resin down, smooth it out. If we put the resin
on nice and evenly it should sand nicely. Then time to flip the part
over and CF the back side of the tail pieces. The tail edge blade
was done both sides at the same time. So no need to flip it and do
another side.
To sand the resin nice and smooth, we'll use 220 wet sandpaper.
Add some soap to the water makes it easier to sand smooth.
