Comparative driving against an E60M5 from a 60mph rolling start. I started in 2nd gear. Was able to get a car length jump going 2nd to 3rd and led most of the way in third. Regrettably, the M5 took over in 4th and by the top of my 5th gear, he had a commanding 4 car lead, but was not making anymore grounds. Was able to repeat this two more times before stopping.

not too bad for being 1 gear short and at a 150-200hp disadvantage.

I had an E60M5 a year ago and personally thought the result would've been much uglier. I would be extremely satisfied if the Cayman could run heads up with an M5. Time to start looking for a little bit more kick = )

 

Because third gear tops out at about 100 mph it sounds like your were hangin in there between 60-100mph.

 

Don't discount the near 1000 lb weight advantage you have.
