ET911

On my 07 997TT(Nov 06 Build) I had the same problem, was told my car had a old version of Porsche Software and needed to be flashed to the lastest by dealer to work. Paid dealer to flash to lastest Porsche Revision and still no luck.

Had to take out the DME Fedex it to Softronic to do what they needed to do, got back the DME and have been abel to read and write to it since.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

Thanks for the response! - glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem, I WAS almost starting to think that it was a user fault.

So do Protomotive use Softronic as well? - as I see that you have a Protomotive update..

I'm thinking that if your software was supposed to be "out of date" - imagine mine! My car is an '01....but as you discovered, I really don't think this has anything to do with it. Not in this instance anyway.

It's the cable. had the same issue with fvd initially.
But, why switch from Kevin's tune in the first place?

The cable really? wow. And were you also told "The likely hood of the cable being the problem is slim to none."?

I mean, come on, so frustrating as I had to waste hours and hours on this. Coming back many times and reporting my problems and not being able to move forward. I would have thought that early in the piece I would be sent a replacement cable. With the amount of time that I've spent on this, the flash (which hasn't happened yet) has costed me more than double.

The flash that Kevin gave me was great (really good) for when the car was stock standard.

But I've now upgraded the turbo's 20/24G's and put 60lb injectors. So that tune makes my car very sick..

I first went to Kevin of course, but his tune needed an upgraded MAF sensor which was going to add another $800 on top (which was unnecessary money considering I might sell the car soon), so I started looking around and found that vividracing had actually given a tune to a car with the exact same bits as mine, therefore at this point I was very excited!

I thought, great, easy upgrade - all done, pay the money and I can start enjoying my car after having it in the workshop for more than 2 months as vividracing told me that the upgraded MAF was unnecessary with their tune.

Anyway, almost 2 weeks later and my car is still in the garage

I believe Protomotive uses the Softronic client cable to read/write the tune.
Tune is proprietary to Protomotive.

i would continue to try different laptops and OS...perhaps there is something up with your network...maybe try on a different network...

I had a couple issues the first time with my mechanics laptop, but it worked perfectly every time using my Thinkpad with windows 7.

I have throughly enjoyed my softronic tune and how easy it is to upload!

Thank you Scott (Softronic) and Dan (VividRacing)

I have since changed cars to a 2005 987S Boxster and did the Softronic reflash on that car. It went without a hitch, and so did a friend's to his 987S Cayman. Softronic handled my initial problem well, I received a full refund from Scott and he called a couple times to help me diagnose the problem.

The new 987S flash is excellent. With any mod, you take a certain risk that things don't go as you've anticipated. The best you can hope for is one that's proven to work really well and, in the event it doesn't the vendor stands behind their product.
