OBD slot. Where is it?

Hey guys.
I have the Diagnostic tool and my friend who has the '04 Boxster wanted to use it.
I thought the OBD slot would be in the foot well under the steering wheel. We could not see it. Could you help me locate it.... is it under the plastic cover? Do I need to take the cover off?
I was comparing it to my 996 where it is not that difficult to see in the foot well.
You could obviously tell that I am not that much of a handy man with these cars... but trying to help my friend.

thanx for the help.

On the CaymanS it is in the footwell, left side just above the cover of the fuses. It is as far rearward as it could be without getting into the lower trim piece, and it faces downward, so something plugged into it would extend straight down. Hope that helps some...

on his 04 Boxster, it is underneath the dashboard, so to speak... at the top left, underneath the dashboard area... underneath the steering wheel area, there is a slot for the user manual... it is slightly left of this area, underneath... I hope this makes sense...

Coulda swore that it was in the same spot as your 996...

His 04 Boxster should be in the same spot as mine, which would the same spot for your car...

Pic from Durametric's website on a 987... pretty much same spot as the 986/996 I believe...
