Cayman brake reliability

Just arrived, hello to everyone

I have a 2008 Cayman S, love the car, treat it with a lot of mechanical sympathy, but being a driving enthusiast it gets a regular spanking on the twisties. I never track the car.

I asked this question already on other foruns and to other owners. After say three hard stops (braking from high speed) the brakes start to make a "rumbling" noise, not very loud but noticeable. Best way to describe it would be the noise crap brakes make when they start to fade due to overheat. Question is the brake performance itself is undiminished, pedal feel remains pretty much the same, it's just the noise which is unsettling.

After about 10K miles my front brakes started vibrating as soon as they got some heat in them and had to be replaced. I stress once again that I don't trash the car and it's only used hard as far as street driving allows. My new dics have however the exact same behaviour. Go to some spacious mountain roads, give it sme stick and after a short while here comes the noise.

Anybody familiar with this?

What kind of pads are you using? Did you replace the rotors, pads, or both?

That vibrating you're feeling is common. It typically happens when brake pads have not been properly bedded to the rotors? What you can try doing is bedding the pads again to see if the feeling goes away.

Sorry, I don't feel vibration anymore, that was only at the 10k mark that made me replace the rotors (under warranty). The only constant is the rumbling noise after some hard stops.
