Should I buy new Cayman S or used one?

Some questions and really appreciation your opinions.
  1. should I buy 2010 brand new Cayman S?
  2. or wait to get 2011 brand new Cayman S?
  3. I live in San Diego, CA, if new car, any suggestion on dealer?
  4. would I be able to buy below MSRP? or even better Invoice price?
  5. if below MSRP, what % usually would I get below MSRP?
  6. or should I get a used one?
  7. if used one, should I get certified?
  8. if used one, what year/millage should I get?
I intent to drive to work, speed on the freeway, and keep the car forever. I don't intent (at least not at this point) to run on track.

Thanks again, Nobody

Pretty simple answer actually. If money is no object buy a new one and build it exactly as you want. If ever I'm in that position (where I can spec out each and every piece of leather that one can put into a Porsche along with every painted interior piece I might want to match the exterior) that would be a dream come true. If you're like most of us here and working with a budget your best case scenario is to get the newest, lowest mileage car you can afford. If you can find a 1 year old car with 4-8,000 miles you'll have a car thats been broken in, will have manifested any problems it might have, will have 3 years and/or 40,000 miles left on the original factory warranty and will probably be at least $15,000 or more off MSRP. In that case I don't think a CPO car is mandatory (it'll be $1,000 or more higher priced than one w/out one - you thought they were free?). Thats really it in a nutshell. Do newer ones have more bells and whistles and improvements of course. Thats what you're paying for. All goes back to what you can afford and the old saying you get what you pay for.

First off, $ is the main consideration. I would go test drive a gen 1 car (2006-8) then a gen 2 car (2009+) and decide for yourself if the improvements from one to the other warrant the price differential. You may find yourself perfectly happy with the gen 1 car and be able to save a huge amount of money. Being a gen 2 owner, I would honestly say that unless you are going to track the car, or just like burning money, a gen 1 car will make you very very happy.

There are some really good buys in the 06-08 cars and there are quite a few of them to choose from. Drive both and you will be able to make a good decision. New vs saving $$. You will have more money for mods with a gen1.
The Cayman S is a great car for the urban speedway. Good luck.

Buy used for ~$34K then turbo charge it to 500hp for $16K via TPC Racing. You'll have a super car for $50K that very few will be able to touch you.
