Installing Sound Proofing in Cayman

My Cayman is really loud inside when driving on the highway ,especially over 80MPH. It appears to mostly be tires noise.

I had a similar problem with my C5 Corvette Convertible and I greatly reduced the noise by installing self adhesive Dynamat over the rear wheel wheels and rear trunk area. Has anyone done this on their Cayman? I am curious as to what areas they may have insulated, what material they used, and what the results were?

Have you considered just getting quieter tires. Something summer touring should do it.

I did it on my turbo and it made a big difference. Go for it.

I thought about making the same post... but there is no reason someone should not be able to enjoy the razor sharp handling and great balance just because they happen to spend time on a crappy highway.

Here in Northwest where chains are allowed some parts of the road are just VERY loud.

So go ahead and try to reduce the noise. Some of that will also make your car little heavier...

What did you do to your Turbo EZ to reduce the sound level?? Tires or insulation?? I have never noticed the same loud road noise on my turbo.

As far as buying a Mercedes, I have a Chevy Suburban if I want to travel in marshmellow, 7,000 lb towing capacity 4WD comfort. The fact that I bought an expensive sharp looking and handling sports car doesn't mean that I feel it was created by God himself and therefore too pure to improve upon. ( I have had over 40 cars including 1300 lb Lotus super Sevens that I commuted in daily so I have a good feeling for what is loud and cushy.

Yes if I add some dynamat it might add 50 lbs to my car, gosh golly. I guess I will just eat less at lunch and only fill my gas tank up to 3/4.
