PSE on Spyder sounds AWESOME. I also like the ability to switch it to quiet so as not to aggravate the neighbors. Knowing what I know now, I would never spec it without PSE.

I ordered it on my 2010 Boxster S along with limited slip and sports chrono plus. I love it. The sound is great and you can turn it on and off. I live in a very quiet neighborhood so I turn it off around my house.
Pricey but if you can afford it go for it.

As previously mentioned, there's nothing "poser" about not wanting to wake up your neighbors or family if driving at odd hours.

The sports exhaust has a fantastic sound character, the perfect combination of throaty and raspy. However, even at full wail it is not as loud as some aftermarket exhausts. With the top open on a Boxster S the PSE is a must have option if you don't want to go aftermarket.

I'm pretty much a purist, but the car I bought has an AWE Tuning exhaust and I have to say I like it a lot. Very civil in normal driving but really opens up during acceleration. I think it has more bang for the buck (11HP they say), than the OEM sport exhaust.

Definitely go with the aftermarket options. They sound better, offer HP/TQ gains, are lighter, and most are less costly. What is not to like? I have the FVD Export (Loud) version on my 2009 Boxster S and the sound is fantastic - couldn't be happier. I recommend FVD highly (after all, built in Germany especially for German cars!!).

that is now what i am planning... looking at REMUS (have one on my M and love it), but the new tip design is way too fussy for me. if it can't be ordered with a different tip, i'll need to look elsewhere... what is FVD? (sorry, new here).. any pics?

It is FVD Brombacher, a German company that does aftermarket mods for P-cars. The FVD exhaust systems they offer are made by M&M in Germany, a company that makes a lot of exhaust systems for Porsche race teams. Top quality muffler systems designed for Porsches. I have one on my 2009 Boxster S and one on my 2009 997.2 C4S. You can have the exhaust in either the TUV (quiet European) version or the Export (Loud) version, or they will build it to any loudness that you want. I have the Export (Loud) versions and they are great - much louder than stock but not intrusive with absolutely no drone while cruising. They sound like a proper Porsche should sound.

Check out their website at www.fvd.us or call Rhonda at (800)274-2220 Ext. 14. She really knows her stuff and gives great customer service. Good luck.

I have an 06 CS and thinking about the FVD exhaust. I am concerned about how loud it would be driving through the neighborhood. Is it "too" loud for a daily driver? Much appreciated!!

wow... i was going to comment that is was a few hundred more than REMUS... but after looking at the photos... the build quality looks incredible. gotta find some sound clips. i'd probably go with the TUV set-up... assuming it is distinctly louder/deeper then stock but not obnoxious..thanks for the info!

on YOUTUBE i found two sound clips... one called "SPORT" exhaust... it sounds great... the other is a red bosxter with FVD, but doesn't call out the type of exhaust, but it definitely sounds tame. any clue if "SPORT" is actually the "EXPORT" model?

This FVD exhaust is definitely NOT "too loud" for a daily driver. It is very "civil" when you drive it mildly below about 4000 RPM, but when you "kick it" and especially when you get above 4000 RPM it really sounds like a GT3 RS (even better in my opinion). It is the best modern generation Porsche sound I have ever heard, even better than the sound I get from the FVD mufflers on my 997.2 C4S. I truly think this is because of the unique FVD (M&M) design of the large single exhaust "can" with the large tips welded to it versus other manufacturer designs with twin cans and tips screwed-on to the outlet pipes. The result is perfect harmony for a Porsche!
