What Cayman S Options?
What Cayman S Options?
I'm new to the board. Going to get my first Porsche since my Guards Red '89 911. Family-required detours through other German brands.
Any options that are must haves?

Sport Chrono
Sport Seats
Bose (they pretty much all have them)
...
I love my thicker sport steering wheel and if you can find it, the PCCBs rock, but that is definitely not a must have. Some people may say you should get PASM, but I don't really see the need, especially if you plan on changing the springs and dampers at some point.

On a PDK, SC+ is a must. Bi-xenons are a great option as well.
I would not want:
BOSE - sounds like...BOSE
PASM - I'd rather shove in some coilovers
PSE - an expensive noise option

The Bose sucks. Avoid it and just put in an aftermarket system if you are inclined.
Bi-Xenons are really nice.
I have and enjoy:
PSE, SPORTS CHRONO, LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL, HEATED SEATS, BOSE (SOUND GOOD CRANKED UP), Bi-XENON, BLUETOOTH, UNIVERSAL INTERFACE, PCM 3.0. I have other options but the one that I probably wouldn't get again is the power seats. I'm the only driver and hardly ever use it.

2010 or 2011?
The aux input, floor mats, and Bluetooth are all standard on 2011 cars. If looking at a left over 2010, then I would want at least bluetooth and the aux input. Mats you can get with the car or add later. BT with the standard (CDR30) stereo is not that good, but you can make or take calls from the left control stalk or the radio itself. If going aftermarket stereo, then you can skip this and the aux in. Miss on on the aux in, and it is a cheap cable you can add later (I think), adding the BT later is much more money and trouble.
The S comes with sound package plus, so I don't see the need to spend more for the Bose system. Sounds pretty good already, easy to upgrade later, and no extra money.
If you live where it gets cool / cold then heated seats. Live where it gets real hot, then vented seats (but you are not going to find those on a car without a TON of other options).
Xenons are nice, but an expensive option.
Drive a lot in the rain? The rain sensing / auto dim pack should be on your list.
Getting the optional 19" wheels? Better get the PASM as well (and maybe wheel insurance too
).
Sports chrono seems to add to the resale value of the car (everyone wants the sport button) and as was mentioned should be part of a Cayman equipped with PDK.
The auto climate control seems to work fine, but I would not say it is a must have.

Read this before you check the box for the LSD:

If you want to track the car and have a functioning LSD save your money for a real one. The Cayman Intereseries cars ran the first couple of races last year with the factory LSD and then changed the rules and ripped them all out and installed ours instead. Now every Cayman Interseries car delivered new from Napleton runs a GT LSD. It's a night and day difference.
