Potential Cayman S Onwer!

Hello Everyone, after looking for the last couple of months I have found a Cayman S that I plan on making a serious offer on Moday afternoon. I was hoping that you could provide some input ...

2006 Cayman S
49 KMS
Black Metallic Paint
19" Carrera Classic Rims w/Coloured Crests
Black Leather Sport Seats/Heated
TPMS
PASM

No Mods
Water Pump was replaced recently by Porsche dealer
Porsche pre purchase inspection will be provided

I took the car out for a nice long drive on the highway and some city streets and it felt great. I could not notice any difference between this car a 2007 Cayman S I drove last week at a Porsche dealer.

My only concern and/or question about this car is the extensive use of paint protection film. The film covers the entire front end of the car (bumper, hood, mirrors, rocker panels, doors including handles and bellow the air intakes). The owner stated that when the car is clean and polished the film is not very noticable although, it was too my eye's. Should I have any concern over something like this? Are there any problems romoving the film and restoring the original paint?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Take Care

The film will not hurt you clearcoat and if you decide to remove it i would recommend professional assistance as you want to be sure to remove correctly. Typically if the car was polished then covered in film you might have to do a single stage polish or in most cases just a coat of wax. We work on alot of Porsche and you will really see the benefit of the film when a rock strike occurs on one of those areas and your paint doesnt chip. Enjoy the new toy they are great cars!

Thank you for the quick reply. My main concern was if I chose to remove the film although, it seems like it should not be an issue.

I plan on waxing the car if my offer is accepted. Should I stay with the regular wax that is offered at the dealer or should I request a special product?

Take Care

You have two options. 1 is to use a natural wax (Zymol or Swissvax) or you can actually seal the film with Paint Protection Film Sealant. Stay away from anything with petroleum in it as it will damage the film and discolor it.

My dog has this petroleum ..man it smells bad when he lets the world Know

Back to the content of the message now ..what do you think of the GRIOTS 1 step Sealant ? this is becoming quite popular here in my area .maybe cause the factory is in Tacoma but it appears to be pretty nice stuff ?

Good news the Cayman S is headed to the local Porsche dealership in the morning for a pre purchase inspection! Does the dealership provide any paper work after the inspection? If not how can I verify there are no problems or issues?

Thanks in advance
