Have been searching for a Cayman (non-S or S) with <30 K miles for about 4-6 weeks now.
Every ad on autotrader/cars.com/craigslist/classifieds on this site has cars that seem WAY overpriced?? What gives? The economy is in the tank and buyers are not going to be bent over for a "luxury" item such as a sportscar especially when people don't have discretionary income!

How can someone (dealer or individual) ask $45K for a minimally optioned '06 CS with 30K miles and out of warranty

I know these cars are wanted, but this is not a Ferrari or some exotic or even a 911 for that matter. Plus the P-car dealers are out of their mind with the asking prices and general attitude.
I am not looking for the deal of the century, but will not get ripped off. Sorry...had to rant

Just be patient & keep checking. More & more of these will become available as they come off of lease or owners sell them. Quite a few have shown up on CL in Portland & Seattle recently.

I see alotta of Cayman's on cars.com with 30k in that range near Philly. Maybe you have to expand your search area by about 100 miles ? Even the Pre-Owned site for Porsche USA has a bunch : 2007 Porsche Cayman, $ 35,991 26,860 Miles

yeah, finding one of these for 30k is going to be tough. And if they're all over your price range, maybe they're not overpriced, you're just under-budgeting?

are you looking for specific car or any in general? sounds like you are looking into highly optioned cars at low mileage for cheap(?). got a link for that $45k 06 CS with 30k miles? i am curious what options it has. gl...

Exactly what I was thinking, I'm not in the market for one so I don't know the price range. But if what the OP said is true. Most are around 45K, then that is the average, not overpriced. It's time to wait longer or start looking at cars in your price range.

I frequently browse prices online for various cars I'd consider buying if a sweet deal came along. Cayman S is one and I'm almost certain I've seen several 06 cayman S for 35k. Maybe even an 07 or two with 40k+ miles. I'd bet a non S could be had for 30k. You may have to travel but having never bought a car in the city I reside, I find the hunt half the fun.

I've been shopping around for gently used Boxster S's (08+), and most of the prices I'm seeing are bottoming out at $50k for around 10-15k miles and decently optioned cars.

I have to agree with the generalization that prices for used Cayman's are too high. It's almost to the point where it would make more sense to just buy a new one.

I agree...little to no depreciation. Might as well buy new.

Sorry, I'm fairly new here and new to researching the Cayman. Is this true, even with regard to the S?
