Ouch! Bumper Gouged. Repair or Replace?

Some jerk backed into my Boxster today and put what looks like a small trailer hitch gouge in the bumper. Naturally he/she took off without claiming responsibility as I was surprised to discover the problem upon returning from the store.

I'm wondering what the repair process is with these plastic bumpers on the Boxster. It's like a round dent and the surface was not pierced. The dent is about 1/2 to 3/4" deep and covers an area of about the size of a silver dollar. It would be nice if it could be filled, sanded, and repainted but I suspect that doesn't work with these bumpers.

Any thoughts, experiences?

Jack

It can be repaired. Multiple companies (3m etc.) make materials specifically for use on plastic bumpers. Even holes can be repaired, though most shops will replace a cover with a large hole. Pix would be nice, but any competent shop can do this repair. ICAR which certifies body techs has multiple plastic repair courses including plastic welding. https://my.i-car.com/EWEB//DynamicPa...s&course=PLA01

Anthony is correct, it can be fixed relatively easy but most likely have to paint the whole pumber at least the clear coat. I still will cost you around 500 depending on where you live

Less than $500 I hope. Things are complicated as I have a clear bra which will have to be removed and re-applied.
