986 Turbo ?

It seems with each month, I am reading about another 987 owner who has taken the "plunge" and installed the TPC turbo kit on his or her vehicle. I am curious to know if anyone on this site has successfully installed a turbo kit on their 986 boxster (preferably on an 'S" model) ? Or, any kind of forced induction system for that matter ?

I sure contemplated it for a while but everyone "in the know" has talked me out of it. You know all the problems this engine has even though it would only be 5 psi, I think the money would be better spent rebuilding the engine with bigger bore and forged pistons and rods etc.. then maybe I would add a turbo. Time will tell. It's all about the Money!!

Casey,
I appreciate your response. I actually spoke with Tom Chan the other day regarding your kit for the 986. It does indeed sound like a well designed system . However, it requires a changeover from the 986 exhaust system to a set of retro fitted 987 headers and cats, along with your cat back muffler. Unfortunately, this is a difficult "pill to swallow" for an individual such as myself who has invested many thousands of dollars in a custom after market exhaust system; only to have to toss it aside.

Let me know if you ever need help.

Casey,
Again, I truly appreciate your input. It sounds like TPC has really designed an excellent system. In event I come across another 986 enthusiast who is interested in my exhaust system, I may reconsider. In the meantime, I will continue to research the topic.

I've done the 3.6 upgrade with L&N nickies and other internals you mentioned already. I may do a single turbo next year, although I am currently at 12.75/1 comp. Jake says he can do it and reduce compression without too much trouble. I have close to 300 RW power now. I'm curious as to what it would be like with forced induction.

It's about 75hp gain at the wheels. We actually had to detune it slightly due to the fact that car had 140k miles and was tiptronic.[/quote]

THanks for the quick reply guys, I appreciate that.

Eddie, have you guys done any 2.7L 986 boxsters yet? If so, what were the gains at the wheels?
