Has anyone place an order for a Cayman R?
Was thinking about it and ended up with a boxster spyder. However, I'm still very tempted if the production number are low. After driving my spyder and realizing the potential why get a 911 in the first place? The truth is Porsche can easily make the Cayman faster than the GT3 but they will not since they feel their flawed 911 design can be further improved by moving the engine towards the middle ever so slightly
.
The problem with the Cayman R is that the difference between that and the standrad S is too small. Aluminum doors, +10hp at different RPM's? (really?) I wonder if the S and R makes the same hp at 7200rpms. If paying MSRP the Cayman R is the way to go. In the real world with the discounts on the S most people can't justify the $ difference.
Did you place an order? I did ask but they claim no allocations available? If allocations are open, I'm curious to know.

I would like a C R for a low production as well, but really, what I want is the C R with 50-75 more HP for the price I could get a C S and a TPC turbo. It is just overpriced for what you get. I know Some will say that you can always turbo it later. I am actively looking for an S that needs a good home
I think this car only makes sense if you want a Cayman and you intend to convert it to a full time track car. The car starts out having a lot of the initial changes most people would make. This would likely provide a cost advantage. For anyone looking for a street car, or an occasional track car, the Cayman S just makes more sense.

I am 100% with you guys on this one
If you can find an allocation you have to pay sticker so 70k or so
you can get a nice 2010 or 2011 S model for 60 k or less !
with that 10K or more you could get the TPC put on and have the real machine we all have been waiting for
The only thing I think the R has an advantage is the resale value although there is 28K miles 2006 Cayman S with a TPC Turbo on it in Seattle for sale for 60k !

Can anyone confirm for that the CaymanR PDK comes standard with the Shift Paddle Steering Wheel in contrast to the shift buttons on the steering wheel?
The President of our local PCA is looking for a car and really likes PDK but only with the shift levers. With this info (confirmed) I think we force him to order the CR.

This one appears to be available FYI.

This black car described above..
Going to handle like all get out.
Going to look sexy as heck.
86 and change just takes it into an arena of pricing that confuses the snot out of myself personally. Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder so someone snag it.
