Cayman vs Cayman S for daily driving.
I'd be interested to know which he chose as well... I went with S as I found that the resellability was stronger. Basically, if you are getting anything used, the S appears to be a better deal. CPO is a great program, too!
If 10 HP is significant, what about 55!
I have a base Cayman and a base Boxster and even the 10hp difference is very noticeable. I would encourage going with the 'S'. I'll give my reason but it's also a question because I don't have a Cayman S. My thoughts are that if the difference between a base Boxster and base Cayman are enough to change the character of the car, then an S would be an absolute monster. I understand the issue with those who think that the S would have 'too much' HP for a DD, that you want to be able to run through the gears. But my thinking is that it's not how long it takes you to get out of a gear or how fast you will go in a particular gear, but how much torque and fun will you have in each gear. I think I would rather feel the much greater torque of the 'S' in all gears and I'd be willing to shift sooner and drive easier in order to avoid the speeding tickets. I think in the Base models, you may find yourself with your foot to the floor trying to find that speed and torque and end up going faster, but not 'funner', than in an 'S'. I'm throwing that out there and also asking for opinions as I am thinking about trading the base Cayman for an 'S' with as few options as needed... maybe xenons and heated seats (old man's back)... but I do love the 19" Carrera wheels. One more thing... if anyone is going to get a boxster... go for the 18" wheels... a noticeable handling/grip difference. I've found myself creeping up the performance range and think I'm ready to recommend to anyone to bite the bullet and go for the S.

When determining a DD what should come to mind...Torque!!! I drive a Audi A4 as my dd. Yes it is slightly modded but none of the power hits untill high revs. As a DD you will want to keep the revs under 3k? I don't like to feel the engine reving it's brains out just to get to 40. Go for an S, its well worth it due to the larger displacement that = TORQUE!!
more torque more torque more torque!

sorry if i did, but i wanted to give my opinion but also get feedback on it... i agree that the torgue is gonna give you alot of fun as a DD and not a track car (unloaded a TT recently because i didn't like the steering feel/response/handling so i love turbo torque). i don't mind revving past 3k of course, but i don't want to go redline to redline on the way to work every day. yes, i probably baby my cars too much. so... i think the S would give me more torque and 'feel' of power without thrashing it. and then when i do take it to the redline.......oh yeah. i think i'd still have room to run the revs up a little without being arrested with an S. the best advice is what i think you offered previously - test drive them. i just haven't driven the S yet... and by the way my "wife's"
car is a cooper S so i can get my hands on some torque when i'm missing it!farvegnugen (sp), happy motoring, etc etc etc everyone...
