Boxster 987 (2005) Cd Changer Issue
Hi,
Around 6 months ago i purchased a 2005 Boxster 987 with PCM and Bose. It has a cd changer installed (cdc4), and from inspecting it uses an optical loop which goes through an amplifier.
A week or so ago i heard an electrical noise coming through my speakers when i was changing tracks on the cd. It sounded as though an electrical cable was touching something, like a cracking noise.
Then a few days later, it completely cut out. I cannot play any cd's. It tells me that the cd is unreadable.
I tried taking the changer out, disconnecting the optical loop and re-installing. This didn't fix the problem, it still says 'CD UNREADABLE' or Unrecognised. Something to that effect.
I tried to inspect what the problem was, possibly it wasnt taking the cd out of the magazine and it was getting stuck? But it is definately selecting the cd, and is unable to read it.
What could be the possible problem? What was that electrical noise? That came out of nowhere and within days the cd changer stopped reading cd's.
Im thinking the amp is fine, as my radio works fine, and all speakers work fine. The only problem is the changer. I can't live without the cd's
