Buying used cayman 2006 with 50k miles??????

I looked at a used cayman s , 1 owner...with 50k miles. I really liked the car, drives well, kept in decent condition and got a deal for 29,500.

Should I go for it??? Or stay away???? Is 50k miles too much as far as reliability goes????

I'm worried the car will not last long.
Is the price ok????

Average of about 10k miles per year, which is typical.

Options?

$29,500 is asking price?

The first thing you should do is get a printout using a porsche system tester similar to the Durometric shown in this link:

http://www.durametric.com/usedporschebuyersguide.aspx

You can have this done by any Porsche mechanic, or you can request this from the seller. It will give you a printout of the engine over-rev's that is critical for engine life and warranty. I'd also check the rear main seal - on the older Caymans this can be a problem. You'll also want to have a really good mechanic that you know give the car a thorough checkup. This should cost you $150 or so, but will be well worth it. I also put a lot of stake in the owner - is he an honest person, has he maintained the car well and does he have records?

If everything checks out, I'd go for it.

50k miles is nothing and umwolverine is right on with his sugestions on how to prevent you from purchasing an abused Porsche .
I have a friend that has over 120k on his 06 cayman and never had 1 problem .for some reason people think Porsche's dont last ,i think its quite the oposite if you take care of these cars they are built like german tanks and can last forever the price is excellent ,a decent optioned S model in 06 retailed for 66 to 67k go for it!
