Need HP for my Boxster S!!!
Need HP for my Boxster S!!!
I've spent months trying to determine the best avenue for increasing the "Fun Factor" on my 2002 Boxster S. I love the car and want to do something with it.
I've looked at:
The TPC Supercharger - TPC doesn't even recommend it.
TTP Turbo Tuning - The Euro exchange rate kills that idea.
Gemballa - Can't get a response from those folks.
Ruf - Hell, can't anyone put a 3.4L or 3.6L motor in my car?
I'm looking for ideas from Tuners and folks who have done something to their own cars.
Please help. I don't want to have to go to Boxster Pete's if I don't have to.

send it to Todd at EVO or STephen at Imagine Auto. Tlel them to SC it. Hell, they'll drop the 3.4 in there (i don't think the 3.6 fits but i could be 100% incorrect).
(Sorry guys if i'm speaking for you

Boxster Pete is another board that specifically talks about Boxsters. Check it out. (Sorry 6speed.)
Yes, the TTP bolt on turbo package is expensive. Moreover, I don't want to bolt on a turbo package to a motor that already has high compression because of pre-ignition problems. That's why I would only do a turbo package or a supercharger package if I was going to reduce the compression first.
There are certainly tuners and racing guys out there that have a lot more experience with these things than I do. If you are looking to tweak, then you might want to hit them up for advice.

FVD-USA can get you 300 hp (at the flywheel) in an '02 S with camshafts, headers, sportcats, intake, and ECU for much less money than a super, turbo, or swap.
this route doesn't get you the big hp, but i'm of the opinion that the boxster platform isn't structurally stiff enough to handle much more.
engine swaps, custom turbos, superchargers are risky ventures, in my opinion, unless you spend a lot of extra money to get everything perfect, especially on labor. and if you ever hope to sell, forget about all that money.
i'm not a boxster owner, but i plan to purchase an '01-'02 "S" within a year and go the FVD route for 50 reliable hp and spend the rest on suspension, wheels, and track time.
i'm just hoping the dollar turns around because the camshafts are made by schrick and the euro has pushed the cost of the cams up over $2700 now!
