Borla vs Fabspeed Race Exhaust Clip

A few of us got together today for a cruise. bensf brought a sound meter for 50' measurements. Tom's first gen Cayman (silver) has a Borla with 4" tips and I have a second gen with the Fabspeed Race system. I grabbed my camera a little too late and missed most of the Borla.

Surprisingly, the Borla's max readout on the meter was louder than the Fabspeed's, although when driving, the latter is absolutely louder. My only comment is exhausts on the first gens always sound more aggressive

We can do a drive-off clip later if anyone wants to hear it.

bensf1 is infamous around these parts
I've been looking for an exhaust system for my Spyder for some time but want to make sure it will pass sound at the local tracks especially Laguna Seca which has a 92 db limit. Scott graciously allowed me to come along and take readings on his and Tom's Caymans. Surprisingly the Borla registered 102 db at 50 feet and the Fabspeed Race registered 99 db, I thought the outcome would have been the opposite. As Scott noted, I think first generation vs. second generation sound difference is at play here. So the search continues, hope to get readings from a Remus exhaust at some point.

Scott, thanks again for your help!

Excellent results and yes the Gen. 1's are significanly louder and more throaty even in stock form than the Gen. 2's. Great work Scott!

I can't tell from the video. How far away from the camera were the cars? They do sound great.
