Boxster. How bad are the "gay" comments?
In a C63 forum, there's a guy who insists that the Nissan GT-R is gay, mainly because it's a Nissan. That's a helluva fast gay car!
Based on these criteria, not sure where cars like the Prius rank. Can something be gayer than gay?

May I chime in here??? As a very heterosexual 50 y.o. male, (who is on his 2nd 'starter' Porsche)....
I have had over 100 cars and trucks in my short 50 years. This is my second Porsche. First car was a '98 Boxster a few years ago, now my '01 'S'. For the record, my favorite Porsche is a Gaurds Red '95 0r '96 911. Someone please correct me on the model!!!
Someday, I will hit up Tim Holt for a ridiculous low-mile example.
Anyway, after owning several Vettes lot's of Mustangs and most recently a Shelby GT500...a couple BMW's and some Nissan Z's, etc... I must say, I have circled back around to another Boxster for the 'dollar to fun' quotiant. I choose NOT to spend 'stupid' money on a car that is going to bring me nauseam over stewing about every little chip, ding, and jealous folkin idiot with a set of Hyundai keys! Soooo...after buying this 'S' last month, and selling the 135i (just yesterday) on Ebay...I am on the hunt again for a partner to my 'starter' Boxster!!
Maybe it's time for that Gaurds Red car???
Oh, as far as the gay comments. or 'girlie' comments....yeah, you get 'em, but WTF who cares? Like many have said already...buy what YOU want as life is short, and if you work hard for your money like I do, you wanna enjoy that hard earned dough. Just say'n...

I will say this - I've gotten a LOT more attention from guys than girls in my car (a few women have shown interest).
So maybe the GT-R isn't gay, but is just attractive to men.
I have a few friends that can be immature/bust my chops at times, but surprisingly I've never had a "gay" comment probably because they know that I have a lot of knowledge on cars.
The Boxster S is great! If someone was seriously talking down on a Boxster S, then it wouldn't matter because they'd be very ignorant. The same goes for Miata and Mini Cooper S comments.
I think my Boxster is anything but. And +1 for OZ wheels

Your Boxster looks sinister... which is a good thing. I love that look. The all black makes it look great. So my update is this. I was going to do the deal on the Boxster but there appears to be some clutch problems with it. It was making some funny noises and I talked to a couple Boxster owners as well as a Porsche mechanic and they all said the same thing. It should not make any noise at all. The owner was not williing to drop the price which is fine. Its his car and he can do what he wants with it. So in the mean time I found a 2000 911 Convertible which is what I was wanting in the first place. Im going to have it checked out and we'll see what its like. 1/2 the fun for me is finding the right deal.

Hm, what kind of noise was audible?
I've always wanted a 911 and I was also considering purchasing a 996, but I'm really not fond of the interior at all. I feel like I'd be settling and I'd want my first 911 to be something I'm 100% happy with (997.2/991 TT or GT3).
I'm pretty happy with my Boxster, I'd just like it to feel more powerful.
After we took it for a drive and it was hot there was an odd ticking / clacking noise coming from the tranny. If you pushed the clutch in it stopped. As soon as you let the clutch out it started again so it was definitely something in the clutch area. Talked to a few guys that owned Boxsters and they said theyve never heard the sound and our local Porsche mechanic said it sounded like the clutch was getting ready to let go. The owner had also never heard it do that so that really scared me.

Here is mine...
What you have to consider is this: Unfortunately, to a majority of people out there, a white on beige Boxster driven by a male might be hinting at a certain sexual preference of such individual. Unlike a white over beige CL63AMG for instance, which some might view as a financial status indicator of an individual rather than his sexuality. Some vehicles are refered to as ladies/men's/boy racers/baby haulers/soccer moms/old men's/work/etc.. cars. Thats the way humans are, judgmental. If it bothers you what others will think, buy a Mustang. Just don't cry when I pass you in my wife's Boxster S.
P.s. I only use the color combo to emphasize my point and not intended to offend anyone.

I'm pretty sure Chuck Norris doesn't drive a Boxster.
Now I gotta wonder about driving my '07 Boxster S...with TIP.... OK, actually it's my wife's car and I put a spare set of 19" Ruf wheels on it. It looks reasonably aggressive. If it weren't for wanting to start out in 2nd gear all the time I would give it a B+op A-. I can easily over ride the 2nd gear start as well as use the surprisingly good manual mode.
[hahahahaa the best part if that I am in my later 60s, don't really give a damn what people think, and have my own Porsche.... s... I can always show up in my 6-2 (the 987S is more FUN than the GT2. Yea, really! The GT2 is a weapon and you don't just FIRE the thing off without considering the effect. The 987S you just..enjoy..), or older modded 930 (see GT2 for experience of using it) , or older 911s. It took me all my life to get all these cars and I DO love them but someday will have to get "real" and get the thundering herd down to just a couple of P cars. But, for now.. What Me Worry.
At this point I probably drive my wife's 987S more than any of the other P-cars. The irony of this isn't lost on me. I had threatened her when she showed interest in a 987S Tip, that it was OK with me but there was NO way I would agree to drive it except for that rare check out drive. I was quite shocked to discover that the Tip didn't ruin the car and is a lot of fun to use. GO for the Boxster but I do think the S is the way to go. A Viper? If you like cooking eggs on the kick panels. A Corvette? Actually, nice but most road tests the S kicks the Vette. I still have a soft spot for the good ones [owned a couple] but I am still waiting for them to get the interior bits nicer so that I can stand more than 20 minutes inside one. There is only 1 choice, the 987S.. errr, or a 911.. or a nice small M series [but you will never have folks watching your back like the P car community and THAT is a big part of long term satisfaction.] Really.
