Boxster. How bad are the "gay" comments?
I guess i should update this thread. I am going to calgary this weekend to pick up a 2002 911 convertible. Couldnt find a Boxster that was right for me and to be honest i was originally looking for a 911. Looking forward to driving it home.
Congrats on your purchase. A nice used Boxster S is not readily available. I looked for about a year and found the one I like which I bought last summer.
Like someone said, a Porsche is a Porsche, you're going to enjoy your new ride.
We need pictures!!

I owned a boxster for years and never got anything but cool... Going racing or hot rodding on the street I dusted Corvettes, 911s etc. its not as much about the car as it is the driver. I lapped faster 911s all the time at the track, and sometimes I got passed from 986s even-though I had a 987. Its mostly the driver not the car.
My latest and last upate. I have made deals on 4 Porsches and all deals have gone bad because of mechanical problems. I have lost the faith and given up my search for now. Had a PPI done on this last one and it needed the RMS / IMS seal done. Had that done as well as putting in a new clutch. Everything was great but then they discovered another oil leak. The case 1/2's were leaking. HUGE repair bill. I backed out of that deal. Went and looked at another 911 that I had been dealing on previously but had not seen yet. Guess what. Oil leaking underneath. Made deals on 2 boxsters. Both had problems. 1 had tranny issues the other had clutch issues as well as an oil leak. I LOVE the Porsche product but this has left a bad taste in my mouth. I've had a Vette and 2 Vipers and had a total of $310.00 in repair bills over 7 summers of driving. Blew a u joint in the Viper. Thats it. Wont look at another Vette but might just stick to the Viper and end my misery..LOL. Thanks for all the help but it's obvious I am just not meant to have a Porsche right now. Maybe down the road I'll consider it again but for now my search will be for something different.
They are slightly older cars already (10 years old or approaching) and not driven as much (read: seals that dry/crack/leak), try upping the $ amount a little and continue with the search.
To address the initial "gay" question, and this will help you with your purchase also, but I have owned many, many sports cars (NSX-T, C6, C6Z06, Maserati Coupe, just to name a few), and the 02 Boxster is hands down my favorite car up to this point! It just feels the best and the most connected that makes you one with the road.

I have an '05 Boxster S that I bought new in '05. It seems that I got more of the "girls car" stuff the first few years, Once the Cayman came out and people started reading how good the Boxster/Cayman series, I don't seem to hear it anymore.
Was thinking about "moving up" to a 911 and test drove an '07 911 cabriolet. What a disappointment - even my wife commented on the soft suspension and body roll in corners. Was happy to drive home in the Boxster.

I also test drove a 997/S to add to my stable and was very disappointed with overall feel/connection with the road.
I think I will have to stick with GT3 or GT2 if I ever want a 911 that is more "sport" and less GTish.
