Boxster. How bad are the "gay" comments?
I'm considering running on my all-seasons (first time, I usually run OEM summer tires). You may give me a run through the esses, on the first lap, after Oak Tree - I'll see you in the pits (or again later that same session lol!).
Nice... I'll make you breakfast
I won't have much track time In the Boxster spyder other than 1 autoX ... And most of the Gtr owners probably have several track days/years in them
I did pass more gtrs than I thought last year in a lightly modded (exhaust and tune) evo x manual

Just picked up a certified 07 Boxster...drove an 05 C6 Vette Friday and thought that's what we wanted after having to sell our C5 a couple of years ago but even though it was a real nice 19m car it just didn't do anything for me and the wife.Saw the car we purchased on the net went and drove it and we both loved it!Perfect condition a nice darker gray with the 5 spoke wheels fun as hell to drive! And like I said with a 2 year 50m bumper to bumper warranty how can I lose? Also came with new F1s and new front rotors.Corvettes go like hell but you get to drive this car!!!Clark.
Accept no substitute lol...
I also looked at a Z06 or an Exige S240 before the spyder.. Numbers arent everything I've learned over the past few years... It's the feel and communication of a car... Vette I felt was awesome but I myself just never felt connected to it

LOL! Didn't notice this thread till now. Some funny comments folks.. LMAO!!...but unfortunately out in the real world it's all so true, and rather sad in a way that the Boxster has this deep rooted stigma of being a gay, girly or poor mans Porsche, other than by the owner of the car. On the numerous times I've been behind the wheel of boxsters and boxer S's I've always walked way super impressed with the whole drive of the car. It's just so well balanced and such a huge blast to drive! If 911 didn't exist the Boxster would not be looked at this way.
it does not help the image when a thread starts out "a smear of tree fluid on my bonnet " or "as i was motoring to my favorite expresso cafe/bistro" . some will comment " stunning, gorgeous, lovely or breath taking" when they talk about rims. ninja pleeeeezzzz THESE ARE NOT MAN TYPE COMMENTS
Ok... "lovely" isn't something technically used... But I don't get "stunning and gorgeous"... I say those about alot of supercars... Education maybe?
What should I say? It's "sick"? Or it's "hawt"? Think I'll pass man

The truth is, hardly anybody who actually thinks for themselves thinks of Boxsters that way, especially in the real world. Online, most people are just parroting comments they've heard on Top Gear or The Sopranos.
You may well be correct that (some) people are parroting the sentiments of others however, you have to ask the hard question why are they so happy to do that. I would agree that the stigma of "hairdressers car", "**** car" etc applies only to male drivers in boxsters, and that female drivers of Boxters are relatively immune to negative comment outside of the odd poor mans Porsche remark. I must admit that on occassions when i've been given a Boxster for a day or two I feel much more comfortable driving the car with my wife in the passenger seat rather than solo or with a male friend.....especially with the roof down.....even though i'm thoroughly enjoying the car.
Nonsense. This is not just an online mindset at all, and to say it isn't prevelant amongst the greater majority in the real world is simply living in denial.

The alternative is to believe that they've reached this conclusion through observation and analysis - that they've actually, personally seen a lot of hairdressers, women, and gay couples in Boxsters. I really doubt that. I haven't seen it and my neighborhood contains Chicago's "Boystown." I've seen many more women in Cayennes than Boxsters, in which I typically see the same demographic as newer 911s - middle-aged white guys.
Though this entire discussion reminds me of a scene in "Justified." Tim Olyphant 's character tells a guy with a Corvette "Nice car." "You know, I had one a them European sports cars and people called me homo, ******, ******bag - people I don't even know. I get the Corvette and everyone just say's 'Nice Car.'"
Because that's sort of what people do? As the t-shirt says: "Drinking... it beats Thinking."

. Ultimately, i guess it means if you want a Boxster and you're a male driver then you should buy the car with your eyes wide open and deal with the reality of knowing that stigma isn't going away any time soon. And when someone say's nice car accept they are most likely calling you a ***....

Oddly - considering this thread - I overheard two neighbors, a woman and her daughter, discussing the Boxster before I rounded the corner into the garage. The daughter said "The guy in xxx has a Porsche too now?" The mother: "Yeah, he's got another p*ssy magnet." "Mom!"
My point is that this isn't thinking - the people perpetuating these comments likely don't know anyone with a Boxster or any other Porsche, much less a hairdresser or gay person with one. It's not an opinion based on their experiences or backed up with empirical data, but something they heard and regurgitate. I don't worry about it. As an African-American, I deal with the misguided negative preconceptions of people who know nothing about me every day - what's one more erroneous assumption?

And re the neighbourly comments...."*****" in the context of a boxster again unfortunately has ambiguity....it could very well have been they were taking the **** in a derogatory sense.
