Cayman S... Any tips?

Any known problems I should look out for when purchasing a Cayman S?
I'd probably end up with one having no warranty since I will be buying the car in the States and importing it into Canada.

Anything I should look out for or any known problems on the 06' models?

Thanks in advance!

Depends on how you want to use the car? As a street car you should not have any real issues. Once you start tracking the car, you need to look at oiling issues and steering pump over heating. The first is the bigger issue, the steering pump is not a big problem just need a cooler. Check out Planet-9's website and those topics.
They are great cars.

joint Planet-9 website for the best info on the 987s

I'd add a windage tray and 996 swirl pots at the least before you start going crazy with HP upgrades. There are a few under $1k upgrades I'd consider the Carnewal exhaust exchange, desnork, underdrive pulley from BBI and then go to the intake and mapping.

Planet-9 has all info you'll need.

Enjoy!

The power steering line/coupler failing/melting. That was my biggest pet peeve!

The car is just a used car so a thorough used car checkout will go a long way to helping you spot a car you do not want to own.

Give the car a good longish test drive, 15 miles as a passenger and then 15 miles (the same route) as a driver.

You want to give the engine and the rest of the car plenty of time to manifest any problems and running the engine, driving the car, is the only real way.

After if you still like the car and believe you can swing a deal the seller and you can both live with have the car treated to a PPI and if it passes this buy and enjoy.

Sincerely,

Macster.
