06 Boxster S window problems
06 Boxster S window problems
So I stored my 987 over the winter and drove it around the underground parking lot every week. It was fine until a month ago after three weeks away. The battery wouldn't start and I was advised I needed a new battery and to hook the car up to a battery maintainer in the future.
After the new battery was installed by the dealer(Pfaff in Woodbridge), the windows will not move up after the doors shut.
Anyone ever experienced something like that?
I was told I could reset the windows because if you disconnect the battery, the windows will not work. Tried it but no luck. I now find out I need a new motor for the power window. Fortunately, the car is under warranty and it'll take about 3 days. I'm now driving a Cayenne which my wife prefers over the Boxster S. What to do, what to do??

Have you tried starting the car, putting the window all the way down...then when the window is all the way down, press down on the window switch again. That should reset everything. If it doesnt, try putting it all the way up, then when up, press the window switch up for a second. See if either of those work. that is what i have done and it works fine.
Karrera4 is correct... the "reset" procedure in the book is to:
1) put the window down all the way
2) press down again one time
3) put the window up all the way
4) press up again one time
(I do this manually... not w/ the auto window up/down feature)
Anyway, this procedure is supposed to set the limits of window movement...

Thanks for your input guys. I did all that but still didn't work. That's why I the Porsche dealer is replacing the motor for me as it's still under warranty.
I'll let you guys know how it goes. Should be done by Friday.(I hope)

As I recall, there have been issues with frying the window regulators when the battery dies and you put in a new one...or something like that. I have heard of it happening before so Im guessing that is what happened to you.
