Did you get anything off MSRP?

Since I’ve never bought a new P car, I didn’t know if you can get anything off MSRP?

Since my shop does much of the paint work for the dealership’s owner at for him personally and his other shops, I received a friends and family discount of 4%.

Does Porsche allow you to haggle?

Very little off MSRP here in Sweden... From what I heard from US people posting at other forums, it's about the same there. I heard up to 7-8% or so in the US, but more often a few % below that.

I got some off MSRP, wich appears to be quite common when you pre-order a car from the dealer's production allocation. The cars on stock I would believe goes for sticker price quite often.

Porsches are in high demand, no reason to discount them if they don't have to... It's not like cheaper brands where the dealers almost begs you to buy the car at any price, just to make space in their inventory before the next shipment arrives!

Absolutely - my dealer discounts easily except for high demand limited production cars. I ordered my 981S with what I felt was a sizable discount from MSRP - especially for a car that isn't even out yet.

No offense, but a 4% discount? You must not be that much of a friend to the dealer. That's a pretty standard discount.

I was wondering the same thing. I figured that since most people that walk into a Porsche dealership a) already know what they want and b) can afford it.... therefore it’s not a tough sell.

The discount I received is what the salesman gave me. I’m still waiting to hear back from the owner. I know in general, Hendrick dealerships don’t tend to give much of a discount.

I’ll find out and let ya know.

It used to be a lot easier to negotiate but due to availability, I found it more difficult to negotiate in recent years. Depending on a vehicle and your relationship, anywhere from low 10s to high single digits for mass-produced vehicles (Boxster/S, Cayman/S, Cayenne variants, etc.). What are you trying to buy?

I ordered a new Boxster S.

82K MSRP. Supposedly I’m getting 4% off it. When I talked to the sale man, he said that they only make 8% in the first place. (which seems low to me)

Anyway, waiting to hear back from the owner of the dealership, perhaps he can save me some. It’s not a big deal. Another 2-3K isn’t going to make me buy or not buy the car.

It would just mean I got an option or two for free.

PS. And to be honest, my salesman has been terrific, if he makes money on it, I don’t care.

Got almost $20k off on a brand new Cayman S back in 2010. Car was a leftover 2009 model I bought in March 2010. I couldn't say no to this sort of deal!

That is a GREAT deal... I can’t blame you for jumping on that.

I talked to the dealership today and they gave me 5% off MSRP. He says they profit exactly 10% (I thought it was 8%) and they gave me the 5% off.

The problem is this is a new configuration. If it were a leftover, I could see dickering but on a brand new style that they’re running out of allotments, I’m completely satisfied with 5%.

... like I mentioned before. At this point, spending 82K or spending 78K isn’t going to stop me from buying the car.

I am pretty sure that a dealer has more than 10% room. I may be wrong. I remember reading posts awhile back about couple % built into a vehicle price upon sales. Correct me if I am wrong.

i agree. when i bought in late 09 i was getting 7 % off over the phone from dealers. with todays money woes i would think even better deals from the dealer are to be had.imho. but that was in 09 82k boxsters were rare

I think that 5% off is a very fair deal for a new 981 order - especially considering that the cars haven't even hit the U.S. showrooms yet. My dealer's entire Boxster allocation is spoken for at least through November. A year or two from now, you could likely do better but who wants to wait until then?

I agree... if the car had at least been out where they're available on the showroom floor, I'd say perhaps you could get more off.

BUT, when cars haven't hit the dealerships yet, I'm thrilled to get 5% off. (paid for my PASM and CS)
