Cayman R or Cayman S for daily
I'm looking for a car who give feeling, i don't care about comfort! I prefer performance over comfort.
Who drive a Cayman R or Cayman S for daily car?
Anyone drive it in winter?
It's correct with good winter tire?
How is the fiability of the last generation of Cayman?

I drive a Cayman S daily...and it is great.
I'm not sure in Montreal winters if I would drive a 2 wheel drive porsche... (I drive it during the winter except when there is ice on the road... I only have summer tires)
performance wise, obviously the R is going to suit your needs/desires better.

I'm far from a Porsche expert, but here's my take. The R is meant for the track. Lots of interior comfort is removed. Including the stereo. For a daily, the base should be great. That said, you're in Montreal. There's one German company that has the best all wheel drive system in the world. It's not Porsche. Go get a TT and some snow tires for the winter and be safe!
Good luck

I'd say most cayman r and Boxster spyders came with ac and a radio...
I'd say an s if your daily driving.. It'll still be amazing performance but the r/spyder suspension is stiffer and the sport buckets could get annoying for some (I drove 12 hours in them over 2 days with no issues)...
I do agree that in Montreal I would look at a Audi TT-S or TT-RS

Could a R be a daily driver.. Yes..
And it would put a smile on your face everyday... But it is a driving car..not much room for nicknacks and stuff that people like to cram in the cubbie holes...
Sport bucket seats on a dd ? I don't know.. It's a pain if ur gettin in and out several times a day...
The weather... Well that's up to you...I would not drive in the snow personally ... That's what trucks are for.. Say a f150 Raptor...
But if your gonna do it..go all the way n get an R.. You won't be dissapointedc..

True...for the $4300 up charge over the S and to pay extra for a/c for an extra 10hp..go fish
Better off spending the extra $$$ at Skip Barber or some fun track days with the S. The driving experience will easily offset the hp difference

I drive my Cayman R with the Sport Buckets Seats as a DD and have no problems. In Virginia we get snow and I drove my Base Cayman throughout the winter weather. I used to drive a 2010 base Cayman with JRZ Coilovers and TPC suspension as a DD. I know I am not the norm but it can be done just depends on what you are looking for, I what to feel every aspect of the road.
I like the R and Spyder as they have better seats, improved looks and are slightly lighter. However, i would add the AC at a minimum. Getting toasted in traffic is not fun even if you are in a Porsche.
IMO, the R can be daily driven. You just need to option lightly.

I am on my 2nd Cayman S as a daily driver. Either way R or S you'll have a blast
. But as stated above R more track orientated (bare bones so to speak) and the S has more comfort but still halls ***. And the TT idea ummm no Porsche all the way !!!!

My wife uses the CR as her DD with no problems. And we recently took it 4+ hours each way to the track and it was fine. If you want performance, R is the way to go. The difference compared to the S isn't huge, but it's enough.
