Hello 2011 Boxster good bye 2010 ISF
Hello everybody,
When my ISF lease expired I decided to buy a roadster. the ISF has plenty of ponies, but I never liked the way it handled.
Porsche has been on my bucket list forever. My wife found a base Boxster with 11k miles on it and we pulled the trigger. My first pick was a 911, but I really liked the way the Boxster handled. Yes, I thought about the S, but the base model has all the HP I need for my daily driver.
So here's a newb questions for you guys. While I like the car stock, I'm thinking of lowering it and putting different tires/wheels on it. the existing wheels are 17".
What would you do?
Thanks,
-tc-

Congrats... the Boxster is a great handling car. Unfortunately, it never got much attention/love from the masses until the 981. Fortunately, that makes the car more "affordable" due to very limited demand.
As you are probably realizing, one of the key attributes of the Boxster is the handling. Adding lowering springs (eibach or h&r) will improve the look and improve the handling further. As for wheels, on the 987.... I would not go larger than 19". 20" wheels really look out of place on the 987's, even the 981's. Make sure you get the properly fitment.
You may also want to consider exhaust also. The flat 6 sings at 4k rpm and higher... and the factory exhaust system does an excellent job holding much of that wonderful sound back. A cat-back system will add another dimension to the great driving experience.
Enjoy and have fun!

Thanks Cris, I didn't think about the exhaust!
Handling is why I went with the Boxster instead of the 911. Don't get me wrong, I love the 911, but there was something about the Boxster that sucked me in.
Thanks again,

I agree w/ Cris..
two schools of thought on "lowering it"... springs and stock shocks... or coil overs.. depends on what you're looking to spend and achieve.
wheels... 18" or 19"... tires are much cheaper in 18"

Congrats on the purchase, you must post pictures pleeeeeeaaasseee !! I would go with the H&R Sport Springs, they offer 1.4 in in the front and 1.2" in the rear. We have them in stock and ready to ship.
