Cayman S stock exhaust
Cayman S stock exhaust
Back in 1979 I had a 3.0 litre 911 SC coupe. I found an awesome mechanic/welder who after I took the catalyst off the exhaust system he cut it open at the weld by grinding the weld then he took out the cat and welded it back together. Realizing that this is still probably considered flying below the radar, is anyone removing catalysts for better performance in their Porsches, specifically Cayman S?
Borla sound clips on youtube
I haven't made any of my own because there are plenty out there on youtube. Go to youtube and just type in Borla exhaust Cayman S and you'll get quite a few of them. Enjoy.
I imagine doing the same on the cayman would hurt performance. The cat area would be hollow and create turbulence from the larger diameter transition.
Aftermarket exhaust would remove the secondary cats and replace them with pipes.

Cayman S exhaust
From personal experience with a 3.0 litre SC, removing the cat gave me the sound I wanted and improved the performance. On a Cayman, it should be the same but I don't know if the Oxygen sensors are going to freak out and have to be bypassed or computer reset. Sure it would be easy to bolt on a Borla but then the stock exhaust is rendered useless and doesn't need to be retired.
