Looking at a boxster spyder - good price?
Hi guys, I've been following your forums for a while staring at envy at your beautiful caymans and boxsters. I was going to pull the trigger on getting one last year, but my wife convinced me to get something bigger, and in a moment of lust I picked up an AMG e63.
Fast forward one year, and I love my e63 but keep thinking about the feel of the road the cayman r gave me, albeit with significantly less torque than I have now.
So I'm thinking of picking up the caymans cousin, the boxster spyder. I've got a guy willing to sell me a 2011 with 2500 miles for $57,700. What do you guys think of that price?
Its a manual with chrono package, and the ac and radio have been put back in.
Any feedback from owners on its usability as a dd would be great as well!
Thanks!

That's a GREAT deal!! Sports Exhaust doesn't really matter as an option because you can always get more powa with aftermarket parts (thought the PSE sounds amazing
) , and the seats are subjective so whatever works for you. Either way GREAT price for the milage. I too understand missing a fat torque curve as I was DD'ing an IS-F before getting the spyder and it really took me a while to get used to revving out to redline for a feeling of speed versus being slammed back in the seat. Even still I've never once regretted it and I'll never sell my little gem
There are lots of Mercs on the road, but I have never once pulled up next to another spyder

Thanks mr2fast! Thanks for the input! I'm having a hard time coming up with a sense of good price because there are so few of these for sale...I will say though that my neighbor has a cayman r and every time he pulls out of the garage I wonder if the e63 was the right decision.
I will say Mercedes made an incredible car, and if the spyder drives anything like the R, its special (though again for me missing torque when I want it most) as well. At the end we are all lucky to be even having the discussion :-)

The spyder will drive (balance, turn, acceleration, etc.) very similar to the Cayman R. However, the experience as a whole will be quite different. With the top down... the spyder will yield a more immersed (sun, wind, sound) experience.... something the Cayman R cannot deliver or duplicate, even with the windows down.
That's a good price. Big savings for a car just two years old but has new car smell and feel at those miles . I drove a rig bllue spyder and its awesome fun. Just be mindful if it is a daily driver the top is something to deal with. Not hard but no like an auto top. That's why I got my boxster S. but the Spyder should be highly collectible long term IMO as a porsche classic. Check prices on an all original 550 as proof. Lastly nothing better IMO than exclusivity and no one else near you having your car.
My dad has the cayman R and its simply a joy to drive. He added the gt3 throttle body and plenum and the car dynos 375 and torque way up. More fun to drive than my RS IMO as the mid engine is so easy to drive fast and drift.

I just went through this search and got a low mile black CPO Spyder with sport bucket seats 6MT. Love it!

The only daily driver issue I have noticed with my 11 Spyder is the hassle of the manual top if you live where the weather can be a bit unpredictable.
I think the price excellent for the low mileage.

Bought this 2011 Spyder last Memorial Day with 1,415 miles on the odometer. Basalt Black Metallic with natural Carrera Red Leather/Alcantara interior, Sport Bucket Seats, 7 Speed PDK, Sports Chrono Package, Automatic Climate Control and Sound Package Plus. Paid $64,000. Sounds like you are getting a really good deal on a low milage car. You will absolutely love the Spyder. Best handling sports car I have ever driven.
