Wheel/Tire weights

Has anyone weighed Porsche wheels/tires in 235/265 sizes in both 18" and 19" versions? I suspect the 18's are lighter - am curious about any significant weight difference.

Yes---search this and other forums. There are several compilations of wheel weights. Tire weights can be gotten from Tire Rack's site. Short version in re 18 vs. 19 is 18in. wheels of course lighter, but 18in. tires are so much heavier than 19's that 19 wheel/tire is clear winner in the battle to control/reduce unsprung weight. If lots of track days are in your plans, the wider choice of r compound tires in 18in. makes the choice harder.

Beautiful Cayman you've got there. Enjoy the ride.

It's about the combo weight. Porsche oem 18" start about 21 lbs. If you want lighter you got to pay more. Tire weights vary, but not hard to reasearch before you buy. Don't forget the Titanium lug bolt options!

Yup -- spent a lot of time weighing wheel/tire combos over the decades. Figured this was the easiest place to get the wheel weights. Thanks folks - Michael

I actually opt out 19 for 18s when I bought the car. Since it will be more budget friendly for me since I will be tracking the car often.

Try these:

8 X 19 Car. S 22lb. 4oz.
9.5 X 19 Car. S 24.11 oz.
By comparison, a set of Champion RS98 9 X 19 & 10 X 19 are 18lb. frt & 19lb. rr.

The above are from Wheel Enhancment. Hope it helps.
Oh, BTW, 18" OEM are surprisingly porky, at ~21lb. frt.

on 944racing's website http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php it listed 987.1 S wheel spec as:
18x8 9.8kg (21.56 lb)
18x8 10.5kg (23.1 lb)

987.2 S 18 wheels can't be much heavier if not lighter, I think.
