Looking at used cayman with structural damage.. Please help

I am looking at buying a 2008 cayman with structural damage listed on Carfax report. It has 100k miles. I am thinking of getting ppi and dme done tomorrow. The owner told me that the structural damage was because the front bumper and floor of trunk was replaced and that the trunk was considered structural. No welding has been done to vehicle and it is in super nice condition .. Title is clear, not. Salvaged or rebuilt but does show accident and structural damage on report. I believe it is priced very well at $17k and was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions ... I have not dealt with titles that a clean and have structural damage. It is a base cayman, I do realize this cayman is a 5 speed and that this a 6 speed forum..

Not really sure what you're asking? Would I buy it - nope. Very high mileage, and over and above that a salvage flag.

You are obviously aware of that, and the price seems to reflect the risk. There a dozens of things to be concerned about here though.

Front bumper & trunk are part of the crumple zone designed to deform & absorb the impact. Also designed to be replaced & or repaired, allthough I don't know how you could fix the trunk without welding. As long as the car is properly repaired it should be fine. I would be interested in it if it was a "S"

Yeah, I don't understand how the trunk could be repaired, but no welding?

But if it makes you feel any better... I spent over a year looking before finally finding what I wanted... and it was worth being patient, although quite the exercise in self control.
