Radar Detector Installation

I have a 981 2014 Cayman an want to hardwire a detector near the rear view mirror. Does anyone know how to safely remove the cover to the home link
map light panel and what color lead is switch hot and what is the best way to pick up a ground?

Thanks for the help.

I did this on my 981. The cover just pops off. I used an interior trim removal tool, but a large flat blade like a butter knife would probably work just as well. Once I got the cover off, I just used a multimeter to find a hot lead and used a spice to connect. IIRC there is a nice ground screw that is very obvious when you pop the cover off.

Be sure to make your power lead plenty long. The 981 windshield is more raked than my old 986. My power lead is a bit shorterr than I would like as the V1 halfway hides behind the mirror and I can't easily see all of the lights on the detector.

Hope this helps!
