Journal of 2007 Cayman Base purchased 4/30/14 96k

I always wanted to do a journal for the cars that i buy. To share my experience with a particular automobile, problems, expenses etc etc for the good of the group.

So here is some background information. This is my First Porsche. I always buy BMW or Mercedes and i thought why not try a Porsche?

I was able to purchase a 2007 Cayman Base 2.7 with 96300 Miles on the odometer for the price of $18325 plus CA tax and fees. Out the door price was $20144.

I know I know super high miles, but what can you do? thats all i can afford

The car did and still does have problems that i need to address. So far the work that has been done to the car are

1.) Replaced the Throttle Body... The car threw codes after driving it off the lot for 10 miles and once the car heats up, RPM would go up and down and car would die/stall. Codes were P2189 and P2187.

Parts $341
Labor 2 hours $170

Issue resolved...

2.) Oil Service... I was so excited buying my first Porsche that I forgot my checklist when buying a car. So when i checked, the oil was low.

Oil Service Parts and Labor $155

3.) TPMS Inactive... Found out that all of my TPMS were dead. Ordered a new one from Titan TPMS for a set of 4.

TPMS Set of 4 $141 shipped

Today... The rear passenger tire got a flat.... called around looking for a 265/40 R18 Continental Contisport 3 N1 Porsche. Cheapest i have found is $342 installed at California Wholesale Tire 719 S Hoover St Los Angeles, CA 90005. still looking for the best deal. I am thinking of replacing all four tires but the fronts are still good!

So many...problems already? I hope you are having more driving time than dealer runs.

Out of curiosity, are those repaired through P-dealer or indy? Oil change price is ridiculously cheap (and also considering the fact that you are from CA).

Anyways, GL.

Congrats on your purchase. Like you, I was thrilled when I bought my Cayman last year used. Yes it was used as well, but to be able to by my own Porsche (granted a "poor man's Porsche") is still something to be completely excited for so I know exactly how you feel.

Throw up a few pictures when you get a chance, would love to see it. I'm in So CA as well (OC) and we have a few guys that try to make runs at Angeles Forest during the summer months. The season should come up soon if you're ever interested.

Welcome and congratulations on the purchase. Post a few pictures of the new beast. I Would have thought you would have gotten at least a 30 day warranty from a used car lot? We offer a some service kits if your a DIY'er. For more information Click Here.

Nothing is real unless there are photos to prove it.

Yea and good luck with the Titan TPMS sensors . there are lots of threads about how the AM TPMS sensors don't turn the TPMS sensor light off and then you have to pay all the labor to remove all 4 wheels and install ,such a buggar !!! but the OEM ones cost a fortune so please let us know if they are successful
