Cayman R question
Cayman R question
I've searched probably one-hundred used Cayman R listings over the past two years and have seen exactly zero that were equipped as tested, in what I consider to be true R spec...no stereo and no A/C.
I get why dealers ordered the R with these options. I'm probably the only non-racing guy that would want a car w/o.
The fact that I've never seen one outside of a magazine article makes me very curious.
Does anyone know if a NA dealership ever ordered an R w/o stereo and A/C?
Thanks!

Not in this market. You'll find in Germany, France, and the UK I bet. You guys have to remember Porsche used to make cars more for the Europe market than here since the cars can be used properly there.
I think the 991 and 981 have changed that with all the electronics and creature comforts and 20" wheels.

Yea me to. I think I read someplace that there were about 60 no A/C, no radio R's delivered to the US. Its not any cheaper, and if your racing then there is a bunch of other stuff that needs to come out as well to make any difference. In short there was no demand. Probably more a marketing thing for the magazines to write about. I could live with out the radio, although I wouldnt like a big hole in its place. But I would not buy a streetable car without AC.
