6 spd vs 5 spd...how to tell

A wrecking yard has a trans out of a 3.2 boxster or so they say. They have it tagged as a 5 speed but listed as a 6 ( long story).

How can I tell just by the transmission if its a 5 or a 6 speed ?

THANKS

From the transmission code number. Find the number -- I think it is in two places (bellhousing and along side the bottom of the tranny). Copy the number down and post it here.

My info is:

G8601-00x = 5 speed gearbox for 2000 - 2004
G8620-00x = 6-speed gearbox S-Models 2000-2004
