I think it depends a lot on what you plan on using the car for. Alone with budget. Street use I would go turbo. Autocross na 3.6/3.8. Just my thoughts.

this will be a street car with a few track days a year just to learn to drive the wheels off this thing. with budget in mind if you add up all the N/A stuff it would come close to if not more than the TPC turbo kit but not looking for big power just enough to spin the tires when i want.
thanks for the tip Nismopowered.

Well, you won't like what I have to say but my advice is to sell the Boxster and buy either a more powerful N/A car or a Turbo.

With my 996 Turbo I can spin the tires when I want -- well, in 1st and maybe second possibly. I can tell you though given how expensive the tires are and the clutch and what have you I seldom spin the tires.

I also have a base 2002 Boxster. While it obviously doesn't have the power of the Turbo it is a pretty quick car and in the twisties a real fun car. I've never tracked either car but I would think it would take an average driver some time before he "outgrew" the Boxster and its HP.

Almost certainly a base Boxster is going to be a less expensive car to track than either a 996 or a Turbo. Not that the Boxster will be cost free -- you are going to pay for your time spent on the track -- only that it will be less expensive.

Thanks for your reply.
I appreciate your advice and I will stick wit my boxster, after driving it a while i am loving the Boxster still want more power. I think make sure this motor is sound and go turbo.
