Alright, I posted it before I watched it. Can't say I agree with it all. I do, however, wish they were offered with an LSD. And, I do agree with the sentiments about making sure it was right down the middle of the boxster/911. Some may argue, that you can exploit the chasis by adding aftermarket power etc, we'll see.
wow what a dissapointment! This car has been set on my mind for the last 2 months and Im picking one up this spring. But for 70k I would expect Porsche to have included a LSD. Its also pretty frustrating that the car was not built to reach its full potential so it wouldnt surpass the 911.
On another note, I can't wait to see what this cars potential is with a few mods.

I think they meant the standard C6 Corvette.

Jeremy Clarkson can be a tool, but he made some good points about Porsches marketing scheme. They seem to have shifted their attention more towards making money that great sportscars. Disappointing.
wait, what!?!? No LSD? So can i get it with options or it doesn't even have it in its option list?
That is a huge rip off no LSD. Forget it, i rather go with the C6 Z06 then. A car tuned for its full protential.

Just add LSD and your quicker than 911. Sounds good to me.
The fact he saw things as negatives, I see them as Positives.
It means there are huge reserves left to be explored with mods.
Mod it up, and its the 911 that will be embarassed after your waiting for it at the next set of lights.
LSD is an Easy fix. So is the brakes, they offer the PCCB.

If I recall, Clarkson does not car for Porsche. Additionally, the argument that it's no good because it "wasn't built to it's full potential" is ridiculous. You can't name but a very small handfull of cars that have been. If they all were, I'd be pissed if I bought a new C6, and a few months later they came out with a Z06. Why a Camero, then a Z28? A 911, and a 911 S? On and on. Every car is built for a market niche. Period.
His one real complaint is weak, at best. Car looks good, if it fits your niche.

It could just be the first P Car to be able to carry two people and
two sets of Golf clubs. That caters to my niche rather nicely.
Fully loaded with options such as PCCB, PASM, Sports Chrono Plus, and an LSD and a Powerchip, this thing should be right on the tail of a STOCK Carrera S and can carry two sets of Golf clubs.
Yes I understand you can then put all that on a Carrera S, but not everyone does and you can't put two sets of clubs and a buddy in the Carrera S at the same time.
So there was a Need/Niche to be filled with the Cayman.
I like it.........a lot. I can see a Reptilian appearing in my garage when they make there way down to Oz.

Please explain to me how the car is purposely designed to be slower?
1. The same engine was used in 3.4L 996 making the same power.
2. 911 doesn't have LSD. (I don't think 987 does either right?)
It is what is is - a Boxster coupe w the most powerful engine in a Boxster ever. If that's a rip off, people should just buy either a 987 or 997. I don't think there is detuning. The engine was selected for marketing positioning and rightfully so. It's not like Porsche took the 3.4L and detune it to 280 hp.
