Cayman replacement engine question?

Looking at an 06 Cayman s that had its engine replaced by porsche in 2011 from an ims issue. Would the engine be the newer engine with no ims that came out in 09 or just a beefed up ims from an 06? Thanks

Check the engine number. Should be able to decode that to find out what year the engine is.

Porschetech3 is infamous around these parts

It will be the M96/M97 style engine with the updated large IMS bearing. The 09 engine without an IMS is the 9A1 style and is also DFI.(will not fit 06-08)
