VIN Decoding
Hi,
I'm looking at a 2009 Boxster S and wondering if there is someone here who can decode the VIN and advise what options were originally on the car.

Now I'm confused. The VIN says the car is a 2009 Boxster S which, I believe, should be a 3.4L 3436cc fuel injected engine. I am just about to close the deal and noticed his advertisement states "3.4L 3387CC H6 GAS DOHC Naturally Aspirated" engine. The seller is 1500 miles away so I need to verify this before buying.
Is that possible? One of the reasons I was seeking a 2009 or above was that the engine no longer had the IMS issues.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Good choice on the 2009. Google is your friend. Looking at info from Porsche, the 2009 Boxster S has a displacement of 3436 cc producing 310 HP at 6400 RPM. You seller has probably pulled some bad data from somewhere.

Thank you. It turned out the web page for the ad populated the displacement. I've confirmed it to be the DFI. All good. Picking it up next week and then a 1500 mile drive home to become acquainted with it.

Just FYI:
www.vindecoderz.com is a free website that will break down the VIN and tell you all the options, MSRP, etc...
Hope that helps some.
