2000 Boxster; engine will not turn over

The car will not turn over when I turn the key. Lights, dash, radio, etc work. This occurs for several attempts, then suddenly the car starts as normal. This has happened 4 different times during the last few days

Once, it started right after i locked and then unlocked the doors with the remote. The car has a manual transmission.

What year is your car? Could be ignition switch (known weak part) or perhaps clutch interlock switch. It easy to jumper the clutch switch to take it out of the equation.

the car is a 2000, the ignition switch was replaced 2 years ago, I have not yet started testing things. I will start with the clutch interlock

Thank you

Even though the ignition switch has been replaced, it could still be the culprit. The clutch interlock is an easy place to start.
