Custom Porsche Cayman GTR to debut in March

Farnbacher Loles Motorsports will unveil the Cayman GTR at the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring race weekend, March 15-18. The limited edition GTR has been highly anticipated by both the Porsche faithful and the media. At the heart of the GTR is a Porsche 3.8 liter S or X-51 engine in either 375 hp or 405 hp variations. Drawing on Farnbacher Loles extensive racing success, the GTR also features a unique adjustable suspension designed to work in concert with the sizable increase in power. Recently, Porsche representatives said they had no plans to build an official Cayman RS, contrary to the hopes of enthusiasts. See more images of the Cayman GTR after the jump…
From the outside, the GTR is easily identified by the new, aggressive Cup car inspired front end and 19” black center wheels. Farnbacher Loles has also created a proprietary rear spoiler which replaces the stock Cayman unit but still retains the height adjustability. Inside, the GTR displays hand-crafted leather accents to distinguish it from its less powerful siblings.

At what point does someone just order the 997S + X51 vs. doing something like this. I suppose if you don't care about 1) A backseat 2) Resale value 3) Ever getting it smogged in CA 4) That new car warranty, go with the super cayman right??

it's not about cost. the two cars will never feel the same, comparing 997 and cayman is like comparing my toothbrush to a pencil really.

One would have to be a hardcore mid-engine lover to do this. I suppose if RUF or whomever with a X51 3.8L Cayman posted NĂĽrburgring lap times we'd have something more to go off of .. more than feelings.
That car is at farnbacherloles now... I saw it in person when I dropped my car off for service. It looks 10 times better in the flesh than in those pics! I would think the 997 front would look off, but it actually looks great on it. The power is unreal with the 3.8
They also have a white Cayman with a modified TT engine.... pushing 500hp
Simply stunning!!

That said, it's not hard to find ways to smog cars in Cali

Actually, engine swaps are alright in cali as long as the motor is newer then the car
