Question Can a PSE be installed using an aftermarket valve controler kit ?

Hi.

I got a quote from a Porsche dealer to install a PSE (with the consol button and programming) for my 2014 Boxster S. It would be around $6,000 (canadian dollars), I consider that it is too expensive.

So I'm wondering if the PSE (the mufflers only without button in console and programming) can be installed using an after market valve controler kit like the Fabspeed one ? ($2,600 for PSE only, $300 Fabspeed kit, $400 to install. Total : $3,300

https://www.fabspeed.com/fabspeed-va...ontroller-kit/

In the kit info they tell "For use with Fabspeed Valvetronic Exhaust systems only". But in theory, I cannot see any reason why it would not work with the PSE.

Note: All aftermarket valvetronic exhausts work fine with PSE hardware (button in console and PSE valve controller), so why the other way (PSE with aftermarket valves controller) would not work.

Any idea ?

Seriously, no one ever tried that ! As it might be an half price solution compared to a PSE dealership retrofit. I'm surprised.

Maybe people install the PSE without hooking it to a valve controller, this way it will always be in open position, PSE ON, loud ! The best position for sure.

I think it would work but I would go with Soul's valve controller, which allows one to install it so that it works with the console switch. Adding PSE is easy and many have done it.

I've bought an universal valve controler, which is exactly the same as the Soul Performance one, but at $150 instead of $175. I'm quite sure it will work. The PSE valve controler works with aftermarket valved exhausts, so there is no reason why the other side (PSE with aftermarket valve controler kit) would not work fine.

I'm waiting the end of April, when my Boxster will go out of winter storage, to buy the PSE and get the whole kit (PSE, Fabspeed true x-pipe exhaust tips, valve controler kit) installed.

In case you decide to have a go at it yourself or hire an indy to install the PSE to save some money, this information is all you need for a factory install result.

I am having my shop remove the PSE from my 2021 Spyder (for a race exhaust) so I may be selling it - PM me to discuss.
