The 986S might not be a match for the Cayman S, but try the 987S as a match for the Cayman S - all those I've talked to who have driven both say there is little difference on the track - not enough to pay the additional amount anyway, unless you like the coupe roof, but that the stiffness and lack of flex IS apparent.
