Boxster S will be more fun to drive with the better brakes, bigger engine and without top, Cayman will look better and be more fun to mod. I hate to say it but I'd choose the Cayman.

Hmm not sure the Cayman looks better. The backend on them can look a bit beaky and I am still not sure I like the round spots on the front end. Also on a sunny day there is no contest.

Just step up and go for a Cayman S... best of both worlds... I am biased though, I LOVE mine and got it used for the price of a base Cayman. If that's not an option, you have to ask yourself what's more important, power or sun... The boxster S is a great car but the cayman is so special and different, it's like a luxury go-kart.

This is a base Cayman? Boxster S for sure. That displacement should make modding easier. Right...?

I would personally take the Boxster S 987 over the Cayman.

Why?

The Boxster S will hold its value better, as it has already taken a fairly major depreciation hit. The Boxster is a more desirable car than the Base Cayman. As you are not using the car as a daily driver then the practicalitys of a hard roof are not so important. Better to be able to pull the car out on a sunny day drop the top and hear that engine roar.
i agree with the above. as i am in the market of selling a couple of cars and my motorcycle my next car will almost certainly have to be a vert. but here is a small calculation i did in retail pricing:

911 base + options that i like: $84k
cayman S + same as above options: $74k
boxster S + same as above options: $69k

for the price, if i was doing a vert i would HAVE to go with a boxster. the next best thing would be the base 911 which would be around $95k. as far as the cayman, i would rather have a 911 so i would gladly pay the $10k premium to get 2 more seats and the 911 power and transmission ratios.

so to sum it up, personally i would do the boxster as it gives you the ability to take the top down and pretty much the same handling/power as the cayman.

I think the Cayman will be more exciting for modding. As you already modded a Boxster before.

just my 2p

I got a Cayman
Cause that car gave me goosebumps, while the Boxster was "just a great car".

Daggie,
If I remember correctly, you are not able to do any engine mods in your country...didn't I read that in a recent thread?? If that is the case, then why go back to a small motor? You're able to make your ride look really hot...why not get something with a motor that will match the looks of your ride...

My vote is for the Cayman Spyder S...(Boxster S)

Dave
