Which would you choose?

I cross-posted this in the 997 and Cayman forums to see what either set of owners would choose....

I am pondering the next P-car and it's pretty much narrowed down to either a Carrera or a Cayman S. When I did the exact build I want for each (same options basically), the Carrera is $87K and the Cayman S is $75K.

Now which one would you guys go for and why? I have my own reasons why I would pick either, but I'm curious to see what you guys think.

For me its no question the Cayman S... but I am in love with Porsche's mid-engine layout... This isn't a carrera S right?

Because if it is, thats another story.

Cayman here as well, but then again a 911 is a 911

I know you used to have a Carrera s so I'm sure you know what's up.

I had to make the same decision (heck probably at the same dealership) between a c2 and a cayman S.

Bought the cayman S, could not be happier.

No disrespect to the 911 at all, but the cayman S is a go kart. I'm sure you can drive one at your dealer, but if you want to drive one with a few very minor mods to it, let me know.

The next p car I purchase will be a 911, but definitely a gt3.

Chris,
since u had a C2S i don't think u'll be happy with the C2 in any way. at least Cayman S will offer u a different driving experience more less it handles better that u might have more fun? also u have a RS4 for rear seats duty so my vote goes to Cayman.

Its funny how in the 997 section everyone votes carrera and here everyone votes cayman. I'm actually having the same dilema but I am between a new 07 cayman, pretty loaded exactly how i want it (60k) or an 06 carrera totally stock for around 65. To tell you the truth i love the cayman but in the back of my mind the carrera just makes sense cause of the name. On the bright side its definately a damn good dilema to have lol

+1 - I agree, going from a Carrera S to a Carrera would suck. Try something new.

I'm not expert on Porsche but test drive both car.

I will go for 911 C2 man

Cayman S is the most beautiful and i love that car, very2 nice

I used to compare that with SLK

But again 911 all the way.

Arling & Russ - That's what I was thinking, too. "Try something new".

I've driven the Cayman S, so that's why I know this is a valid comparison (base Carrera vs. Cayman S). The handling was just mind-blowing...

Thanks for the input guys - I'll keep you informed.

I'd go with the Cayman S and add some mods with the price difference.
