New Brembo Brake Kit for Cayman
New Brembo Brake Kit for Cayman
Brembo just released a new 15" 4piston kit for the Porsche Cayman owners. Targeted towards the most aggressive drivers needing the best stopping, this new Brembo kit will out brake anything on the road or track. The Brembo kit features a 2pc floating rotor. Each Brembo kit includes steel braided brake lines, high performance street pads, and caliper components for a direct bolt on. After wheels are required. 19" will definitely fit. The kit comes in black, red, silver, or yellow. Rotors can be had in slotted or drilled. For track racers we recommend slotted.

4piston is all Brembo has. If you want to do larger piston, check out Rotora. How many pistons is not as important as piston bore, size, surface area, rotor diameter and more. A car like the Cayman only needs the 4piston. With a 15 inch disk, you will have no PROBLEM stopping.

Moving into the offered Brembo front is ok and all but wonder about the rear... what can be done to upgrade accordingly in the rear?
I love upgrades and solutions as long as they bring balance... leaving the stock rear is not IMO balanced specially if you are running a 2.7 that carries smaller brakes than the 3.4
With the help of Gary at Race Technologies -
"PCCB's are an OEM option and offer OEM type performance.
(better than many other options, but they still have issues) We've had people remove the PCCB's in favor of a Gran Turismo kit.
PCCB's have been known to have many problems on the track and in track like scenarios. The first generation was the worst, and I believe they are already on their 2nd or 3rd generation of discs. I am still not comfortable with their performance off of public roads. Not to mention that the replacement discs, if damaged, are thousands of dollars each.
The Brembo Gran Turismo system, even as front only, does provide optimum brake bias. The goal with this system was not to add tons of extra braking force. The OEM braking system is sufficient to brake beyond the limits of the tires. Our goal was to increase thermal capacity to be able to repeatedly brake to the limits of the tires with no fade related issues.
While doing this, we've added a two piece disc for unsprung and rotation weight savings, and the full floating ability to prevent disc distortion and allow it to seek a true centerline for even pad and rotor wear. The greatest benefit is that the newer caliper offers better modulation, pedal feel and control.
The only advantage of PCCB is the extremely lightweight disc. The caliper is a brick, pad selection is non-existent, and the cost of replacement parts is ridiculous. The cost of the two upgrades is very similar, and the Gran Turismo kit suites the needs of an enthusiast much much better."
