Just got my Boxster back from the body shop

I just got back from the body shop not too long ago, picked up my 98 Boxster. I've been putting in money here in there over the past year, Litronic, Clear Rear Lights, etc. I finally took the dive and spent $2,200 to put on a techart style GT2 front bumper and Techart style side skirts. I must say... I'm pretty happy with the new look.

(I apologize for the text over the images. I just don't want vendors on ebay to use my pictures to sell their body kits.)

Work was done at McCurdy Body Works in Pasadena, CA. Awesome job on the color matching - 10 year old Arctic Silver isn't an easy color to match.

It's not quite my Dad's real deal 996 Techart GT Street, but for spending 1/10 the price on work, it's not bad at all.

After driving my Dad's GT Street which has about 4" of clearance, I much appreciate not having to freak out when I come across any road obstacles. One time, I mutilated a grapefruit that was lying in the street when the lower lip hit the thing going about 50 mph. Luckily no body damage - If it had been my replica kit, I have no doubts that my kit would've cracked right down the middle.

Yea, I could use a set of 18"s or 19"s but its hard to just buy another set when I paid almost $3200 for these OEM 10 years ago in 1997. Back then 17" was "big". They're still OEM Porsche 3 piece so they don't bother me THAT much so maybe in a few years, I'll pick up a cheap set.

About the $200... that was my typo... lets just drop another 2 in front of that. $1600 for parts, $600 for paint and installation (including painting rear bumperettes). Tag on another $2,000 for litronics, rear lights, side markers, chrome emblem.

I don't want to bother with engine mods - I've settled with the concept that 2.5 liters isn't going to get me anywhere quick, even if I put on headers, exhaust, chip, and air filter. I might consider working a bit on the bone-stock interior, but I should really be saving my money for my law school tuition - the $4200 I just spent doing everything to my car could've ALMOST paid 1/4 of ONE SEMESTER of tuition.

Yep, 1998 Model purchased late in 1997. 10 years old and the car still looks pretty sharp. More impressive is the fact that it only has 33,000 miles!

Hey Aaron,

Car looks great! Just wondering where you picked up your Litronics, rear lights, and side markers? Also, that clear triangle piece where the headlight washer nozzle is located (or sometimes is not located in the case of my car not coming with that feature )

Hey Mike,

I picked up all the lighting parts at www.suncoastmotorsports.com

They're consistently the lowest price, most reliable vendor for these components. Very highly recommended. You can order online or just call them - ask for Rick Knab.
