Porsche battery died....again

this is my 2nd battery in 6 years. I just bought it 2 years ago and think the warranty is only for 1 year. So i'm in search for another battery.

Anybody have recommendations for an aftermarket battery for a 02 996 C2? I'm looking to get the Interstate Megatron Plus 850CCA. Or should I look for Optima Yellow or Red Top?

I'm sick of Porsche batteries dying on me. My neighbour's boxster is doing the same thing.

Thanks

well anyways....i changed to a red top, the key is that it needs to be on a constant battery maintainer, that kicks in when ever the charg drops from optimal, charging it every 6 or 3 or 2 months will still damage the bat since it discharges and those deep cycles will kill the batt life, and ability to hold charge, i use some bat maintainers i found at canadian tire, seem to do the trick, but i too had the OE bat die within a couple years of ownership and the dealer refused to change it....

that being said i have had some bad experiance with optima, but the red top was on sale at wallmart, so i tried it, they are good about replacing them anyways if there is an issue

I've contacted the dealer and the warranty on batteries are 4 years. 1st 2 years is full replacement and last 2 years are pro-rated.

Mine is still within 2 years so will bring it in for a replacement. If I don't get it, I'm not goign to buy OEM batteries again as this is one of the worst batteries I have encountered. I used to have a Honda Civic and it lasted for 8 years.

For aftermarket,I'll probably grab one of those Group 49 that everyone else is getting for the cheaper price and the less weight.

Nice pastel yellow btw

My factory battery died last fall, just after I imported the car.
Put in an Interstate on the Bellingham dealer's advice.
A maintaining type charger does add yrs. to any batteries life.

Mine is 6yo and original. Car is parked indoors. If not driven over a wk or two, I'll put it on battery charger. It's $40 and sits next to the battery. Only an extension cord to plug it into the wall. You can get other type of battery maintainer also.

Sounds like you really ought to invest in one of these since your warranty will be on a pro rated basis soon. Otherwise, drive it on freeway more often
