Alberta - Local Tuners/Mod Shops

About to take delivery of my 2003 X50, and I have chatted with a few guys at vividracing, RPMNorth and Protomotive. I have a good idea of the mods I want to do but I am curious to know where some of you guys got your work done?

Thanks,

Which part of Alberta are you in, and what mods are you thinking?

For a flash, Eurasia can do in on site.

I live in Calgary. I know Tunerworks does good work, but I am thinking I may want to go with Softronics, and in that case it doesn't seem we have a local tuner. Sorry, I haven't heard of Eurasia.

In terms of mods, just basic stuff for now; DV, Intake, Exhaust, Flash and eventually k24/18g mod. My ultimate goal for the car would be mid-to-low 11's at our elevation (~3,500ft)

Eurasia is a shop in South Edm that repair alot of imports. They are also a GIAC dealer. That's why I was saying you would not have to send your ecu out for a flash.

For the basic things like DV , intake and exhaust, I think any reputable shop is capable of doing it. When you start getting into the bigger HP, I would find a tuner you feel has good customer service, and back thier work , since you will not be within driving distance if something were to go wrong.

I had recently just shipped my car right to EVO to get the work done, and I am quite happy with the car right now........til I want more HP.

Just my 2cents.

Howie's on the "car crack" (instantly addicted and always wanting more)... expensive habit, but worth it!

Another shop in Calgary, just down the street from Tunerworks is Riegel Tuning http://www.riegeltuning.com/ . I had a chat with the owner there and he seemed pretty knowledgeable about the twin turbo tunability.

Howie's 2cents are worth way more than my 2cents though, since he's actually gotten tuning done - I'm just getting into it...

Your are correct that we use GIAC and sometime EVO software. Obviously you need to be comfortable with the software that goes into your baby!

We just completed a 996TT project using the EVO GT660 bolt-on kit. WOW

IMO, low 11s at this altitude will be tough if you want the driveline to survive

Let me know if I can help with anything on your car.

Thanks for all the feedback. I just watched a couple videos, EVO GT660 kit and Vivid's 650 kit - I give it all of about a month before I make the step up!

Rob - can you install other guys parts (if I decided not to go the EVO path)?

If we supply the parts - yes We have another 996TT at the shop today getting GIAC, Fabspeed, EVO intake, intake plenum, diverters, etc. There are plenty of quick 996TTs in this city

I might check out Ultimate Motor Works. Kevins high flow K24 swap looks interesting - especially if you get the zero clearance treatment.

That EVO 660 kit is a lot of bang for the buck. Comes with the Hitachi MAF which can read the air flow required to make the power - unlike the stock MAF. You will need an exhaust on top of the kit.

Softronic - I have yet to understand what this is all about. Those systems are still using the stock MAF from what I understand. I'm confused.

Protomotive - proven.

Just my opinion.
